1640 – End of the Iberian Union: Portugal acclaims as King João IV of Portugal, thus ending a 60 year period of personal union of the crowns of Portugal and Spain and the end of the rule of the House of Habsburg (also called the Philippine Dynasty).

Titanic Historical Society 2009 Convention Set for Long Beach, CA

The Titanic Historical Society’s 2009 Convention will be held on April 3-5 aboard the RMS Queen Mary, Long Beach, California.

The Titanic Historical Society is the world’s largest Titanic organization. The Society does not represent one nation but all countries and was the first to form for the purpose of preserving the history of RMS Titanic and the White Star Line. (more…)
