Happy New (4707) Chinese Year!

Today is the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year which has the sign of the Ox. 2008 was the year of the Rat, while the 2010 will begin on Sunday, February 14, and it will have the sign of the Tiger.

Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It begins according to the Chinese calendar which consists of both Gregorian and lunar-solar calendar systems. New Disneyland in Shanghai

A new Disneyland theme park will be built in 2012 in Shanghai, China. The park is going to cover the surface of 1 sqare mile in the Pudong district. It is goding to be financed by both the Walt Disney Company and the city of Shanghai.

This location for the first Disney theme park in Asia was selected mainly because of the prosperous and growing local market.

Another fabulous (literally ;-) ) movie comes to us from the Dreamworks factory, yet this one is way cooler than others! It’s a great life story, packed with ancient Chinese legends and wisdom. The furious five (Tigress, Crane, Monkey, Snake and Mantis) represent five of the most popular styles of Kung Fu.

Kung Fu panda is a hilarious comedy, which made all of us who watched it laugh to tears, and even review several times some parts of the movie. We thought that it’s going to be yet another American “parody of everything” with predictable jokes, but many instances caught us by surprise which made the feeling even better! (more…)

China has constructed the most powerful optical telescope in the world

Telescopio LijiangChina has constructed the most powerful optical telescope in the world, with which they are set to reveal the mysteries of the universe, local media said.

The telescope, whose construction costed $ 34,4 million (26,82 million euros), is located on the top of a mountain 960m high, within an investigation base of the National Astronomic Observatories,  under the monitoring of the Science Academy of China, situated 170 km north of Beijing. (more…)
