Whether it is or isn’t man’s best friend, the dog is certainly among the best and most faithful animals there are (competing with horses and dolphins 
). Don’t know about you, but I’ve always preferred them to cats!
Below is a cute video showing a soldier returning from Afghanistan and the reaction of his canine friend. It’s almost as if the dog was crying of happiness, she almost went crazy! You’d probably never see a cat do something like that.
I’ve also found a list of some of the most faithful dogs through history and a brief description of why they’re on the list: Faithful Dogs in History. If you like dogs, this will probably also make you say awwwww. 
For fifteen thousand years we’ve relied on them for protection, sledge pulling, companionship, hunting and many more. They’ve very rarely let their owners down, and yet we take them for granted.
