Google phone has come to US shops

The G1, better known as Google Phone, has come to US T-Mobile shops to compete with the iPhone, the absolute leader of the high class with more than 10 millions of units sold this year.

Costing just 179 $ with a minimal contract of 2 years, the new mobile is the first to attract so much intention since the Apple phone (199 & 299 $), but it still has a hard battle to fight.

The economic crisis climate in the US and the soon to be launched Storm, the first model of BlackBerry with a touchscreen amongst the new competitors could make things harder for this mobile.

Currently, even though a large number of T-Mobile shops in various US cities have seen rows, there weren’t large masses of people sleeping on the streets since the night before, which was the case with iPhone.

The principal attraction of G1, manufactured by HTC, is it’s operating system, named the Android and developed by Google, that has an open code, which makes it possible for anyone to develop new applications and imporvements for the machine without the restrictions that Apple imposes in the iPhone.

However, that same plus can become it’s enemy, having in mind that other machines expected soon will have the same operating system.

Also, while Apples phone commercializes alongside with AT&T, the G1 comes with T-Mobile, whose 3G technology (which grants access to data and internet surfing with a large bandwith) is not as complete as it’s competitor’s.

The potential byers are watching the last news of the next BlackBerry with touchscreen, which was presented on October, 8. by the third operator – Verizon, although it’s not known when will it be on sale.

Since the launch of iPhone in July, 2007 which has fascinated the users from all over the world with it’s touchscreen, many manufacturers have tried to compete, but the analyzers believe that until now none has come near neither by design nor technical characteristics. Even the G1, which even being a promising model for the critics because of it’s software possibilities, is not a match with it’s design and screen.
